Abigale Lee
Miller (born on 21 September 1965) is a famous American choreographer who also
teaches dance and is a reality TV star. Abby Lee Dance Company is her creation,
which aired for eight seasons on Dance Moms. Miller admitted in June 2016 to
criminal bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced for one and five years in
federal prison and released on March 27, 2018. In April 2018, she was diagnosed
with lymphoma, which is a kind of cancer that makes it difficult to walk. She
is confined to a wheelchair for mobility. Miller was raised around dance in
Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, located in a Pittsburgh suburb. She attended classes
under the direction of her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller,
then 14, was tasked with choreography and coaching of one of her mother's dance
teams. Miller became the sole owner of the studio , and it was renamed Reign
Dance Productions in 1995. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of America and
became a part of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter #10 in 1986 however, her
membership was ended in February 2012 in the wake of DMA saying that Miller's
reality-TV program Dance Moms was "a total deflection of our dance
instructors as well as their students. It is negative for the dance
profession."
